Senior Java Full Stack Engineer with AI (F2F interview in Phoenix)

We are seeking a Senior Java Full Stack Engineer with AI experience to design, build, and deliver scalable enterprise applications in a long-term contract engagement based in Phoenix, AZ. This role combines deep full stack engineering expertise with hands-on experience integrating large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and AI services into production-grade systems.

You will work closely with product managers, architects, data scientists, and fellow engineers to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing solutions that solve real business problems.

• Design, develop, and maintain applications usingJava, Spring Boot, andReact or Angular.
• Build secure REST APIs, microservices, and integrations with internal and external systems.
• Develop responsive, accessible user interfaces using TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Integrate AI capabilities such as conversational assistants, semantic search, document processing, and workflow automation.
• Build RAG pipelines covering data ingestion, embeddings, vector search, retrieval, and response generation.
• Implement tool calling and AI workflows with appropriate validation, access controls, and human review.
• Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, relevance, safety, latency, and cost.
• Design and optimize relational databases, NoSQL stores, and caching layers.
• Apply secure coding practices including safeguards for sensitive data, prompt injection, and AI-generated outputs.
• Write automated tests, participate in code reviews, and troubleshoot production issues.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to architecture and technical decisions.

Required Qualifications

9+ years of experience in software engineering, including hands-on AI application development.

7+ years of professional software development with strong Java and full stack expertise.

Strong knowledge ofJava, Spring Boot, Spring Security, and microservices architecture.

Hands-on experience withReact or Angular and TypeScript or JavaScript.

Experience designing REST APIs and implementing authentication/authorization using

OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, or JWT.

Proficiency with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design and query optimization.

Practical experience integrating LLMs or other AI models into applications via hosted APIs or self-hosted services.

Understanding of embeddings, vector databases, RAG, prompt design, and AI evaluation.

Experience with automated testing, Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and cloud platforms.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience delivering and supporting AI-powered features in production environments.

Familiarity with Spring AI, LangChain4j, or similar AI integration frameworks.

Working knowledge of Python for AI integrations, data processing, or evaluation.

Experience with vector search technologies such as pgvector, OpenSearch, Pinecone, or Milvus.

Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud AI services.

Experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis, and event-driven systems.

Knowledge of AI observability, model versioning, evaluation datasets, and monitoring.

Experience building enterprise applications with privacy, governance, and audit  requirements.
