Job Description

We are seeking an Application Programmer III to join our team supporting modernization initiatives within the RRA. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in testing Java-based backend systems, distributed and event-driven architectures, REST APIs, and CI/CD-driven microservices and a proven ability to design and execute automation strategies that assure reliability, correctness, and production readiness.

Responsibilities:

• Provide support and development support for RRA modernization, driving test coverage, automation, and validation of functional and non-functional requirements.


• Partner with trading, product, development, and DevOps leadership to assess delivery risk and influence design decisions using shift-left and shift-right testing practices.


• Act as a key stakeholder for production readiness to ensure operational resilience, stability, and compliance for front-to-back trading workflows.


• Define and maintain test plans, automation strategies, and quality gates across the SDLC in an agile environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years validating and assuring quality of production systems built with Java-based backends, focused on reliability, correctness, and user experience.


• Strong understanding of object-oriented design, microservices, REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized environments.


• Proven experience testing distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and real-time or near-real-time data pipelines, including failure scenarios and performance under load.


• Demonstrated ability to design and execute test automation and quality gates with strong analytical skills and collaboration with developers, product, and DevOps teams.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with testing strategies for production resilience and observability in trading or financial services environments.


• Familiarity with peer coding and technical interview settings that emphasize independent problem solving without external tools.

Work Arrangement & Interview Process:

• Hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite in Jersey City, NJ.

• Interview process: Round 1 Webex peer coding. Round 2 Webex technical. Candidates must demonstrate independent problem solving without the use of AI tools.
