Summary

Be an integral part of a small and visible team of world-class Mechanical Engineers making Apple's first wearable product line. As a member of the Watch design team, you will build the next generation of the world's most advanced wearable device. You will work closely with cross-functional teams like Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Antenna, Reliability, Sensors, Environmental, and Marketing to bring future products to life. The Watch Product Design team is responsible for all of the mechanical parts that make up the Watch in all sizes and materials.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about engineering and thrives on innovation to help build the next generation of the world's most innovative mobile devices. This role is for someone with strong mechanical design skills, an ability to lead projects in a multi-functional setting, and excellent communication skills with both vendors within Asia and internal teams at Apple. The role will require the ability to deliver outstanding design solutions while balancing multiple priorities on demanding schedules. You will be responsible for building prototypes for design validation and driving failure analysis.

Bachelor's in mechanical engineering or related discipline\nA solid understanding of engineering fundamentals [heat transfer, mechanics of materials, etc]\nUnderstanding of tight-tolerance fabrication and assembly techniques, mechanical drawing composition (functional dimensioning and tolerance stack-up analysis)\nExperience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and statistical tolerance analysis techniques\nCAD and drawings (GD&T)\nWorking knowledge of FEA\nApplication of statistical tools and techniques

Masters degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline\n3+ years of mechanical design experience using of a variety of fabrication processes\n3+ years of consumer electronics design experience demonstrating the ability to work on complex products with large multidisciplinary teams\nPassion for making great products and solving tough design problems\nExperience with technical graphical communication of concepts, ideas, and solutions\nStrong proficiency in Siemens NX [components, assemblies and drawings] \nExperienced with metrology and interpreting and deriving meaningful insights from FAI data\nExperience working with electrical engineers to layout and build custom PCBs/FPCs\nExperience owning parts at various production stages and a history of engaging with vendors to yield successful parts/assemblies\nExperience designing and integrating flexible circuits \nExperience designing and integrating PCBs \nExperience designing and integrating batteries
