Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Scientist for an Onsite position with a Global Biotechnology Company located in Thousand Oaks, CA. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. In this vital role, the scientist will be responsible for the analytical characterization of pre-clinical biotherapeutic monoclonal antibody (mAb) drug candidates. The position emphasizes sample preparation, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, and statistical data processing. The ideal candidate will also leverage modern AI and programming tools to create software for data post-processing and reporting.
Responsibilities: - Create mass spectrometry software analysis tools for data post-processing for reporting and data aggregation, utilizing Claude Code, Codex, Python, and other modern AI tools
- Perform sample preparation, including reduction and alkylation of disulfide bonds and enzymatic digestion of mAb
- Conduct liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) peptide mapping analysis and data processing to identify and quantify PTMs
- Execute physical automation of sample preparation, including digestion for peptide mapping on a Hamilton liquid handler
- Perform LC-UV-MS analysis of intact mAbs, including mass deconvolution and identification of mAbs, their forms, and fragments
- Provide scientific results that support the generation of regulatory submissions, patents, and publications
- Explore and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to MS-based characterization of therapeutic proteins
Requirements: - Doctorate degree OR
- Master's degree OR
- Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience
Desired skills: - Ph.D., Master's, or Bachelor's degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, computer sciences, or bioinformatics
- Expertise with modern AI and programming tools, including Claude Code, Codex, Databricks, and Python
- Familiarity with mass spectrometry of proteins, peptides, and glycans
- Familiarity with mass spectrometry data processing software packages (BioPharma Finder, Skyline, Byonic, Byos, Expressionist)
- Expertise with statistical analysis software
- Laboratory work skills, including manual and automated sample preparation
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for the timely documentation, presentation, and discussion of scientific results
Pay range: up to $34.22 per hour
