Job Summary

The Avionics Technician IV performs advanced avionics maintenance, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of aircraft avionics systems and components. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to safety, and the ability to interpret complex technical documentation while complying with applicable industry regulations and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform moderately complex avionics installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities
  • Conduct avionics maintenance in compliance with FAA, FCC, and internal safety and quality standards
  • Install, route, repair, and terminate wiring in accordance with technical schematics and drawings
  • Utilize advanced avionics installation tooling, soldering, and crimping techniques
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment, tools, manuals, and technical documentation
  • Inspect avionics systems, structures, and equipment to ensure functionality and safety
  • Support safe operations involving hazardous materials, equipment, or machinery
  • Mentor and guide junior technicians when applicable


Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Typically 10+ years of relevant avionics or electronics experience
    • Higher-level education may substitute for required experience
    • Related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education
  • Ability to read and interpret moderately complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and publications
  • Advanced skills in avionics installation tooling, wiring, wiring repair, and wiring installation
  • Proficiency in soldering and crimping techniques
  • Must supply and maintain personal tools in good working condition


Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with FCC regulations and/or FCC GROL
  • Experience mentoring or guiding less-experienced technicians
  • Basic understanding of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrometers, and pitot static equipment
  • Background in aerospace, defense, military, or Department of Defense environments


Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs or steps
  • Frequent repetitive hand, arm, and finger motions requiring dexterity
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, depth perception, and color differentiation
  • Hearing requirements include distinguishing tones and volume levels
  • Occasional lifting or carrying of up to 50 pounds


Working Conditions
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor environments (including hot/cold temperatures and weather conditions)
  • Frequent exposure to fumes, hazardous chemicals, or materials
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise environments


Safety-Sensitive Position

This role involves responsibilities that impact the safety and security of people, property, and equipment, including:
  • Aviation-related maintenance duties
  • Inspection of vehicles, equipment, and structures
  • Operation or supervision of vehicles, heavy machinery, or hazardous equipment
  • Handling or inspection of hazardous materials
