Mandatory Requirements

• 12–15+ years of Mainframe Application Development experience.
• Current Texas resident with a Valid Texas Driver''s License.
• Minimum 2–3+ years of experience working with a State or Federal Workforce/Labor Department is Mandatory.
• Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, DB2, Natural, CICS, and JCL.
• Candidates without Workforce/Labor Department experience will not be considered.

Position Summary

The State of Texas is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mainframe Applications Developer to support and enhance mission-critical Workforce applications. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in legacy mainframe technologies, database design, batch processing, API integration, and secure authentication frameworks while working in a complex enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, test, debug, and maintain enterprise Mainframe applications.
• Analyze and optimize DB2 databases, schemas, and relational data structures.
• Modify CICS online screens, batch jobs, and runtime processes.
• Integrate REST/SOAP web services with legacy Mainframe applications.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization solutions using enterprise identity frameworks.
• Analyze undocumented legacy code, perform impact analysis, and implement system enhancements.
• Participate in SDLC activities, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Ensure compliance with State/Federal security standards and protection of sensitive PII data.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting State Workforce or Labor Department applications.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with enterprise modernization and legacy integration initiatives.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
