Job Overview

We are seeking a highly technical and proactive QA Automation Engineer to join our team in Washington, DC. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of microservices using a custom Scala-based automation framework developed by our engineering team.

This position requires strong automation development skills, API testing expertise, and experience testing microservices-based architectures. The ideal candidate will also have strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with distributed development teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Automation Development:
    Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using a Scala-based automation framework.

  • API Testing:
    Perform comprehensive API testing to validate microservice functionality, performance, security, and integrations.

  • Quality Assurance:
    Ensure high-quality releases by identifying, documenting, and tracking defects related to upstream and downstream service dependencies.

  • Collaboration:
    Act as a liaison between QA, development, and other technical teams to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Microservices Testing:
    Validate complex workflows across distributed microservices systems and ensure proper integration between services.


Required Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with Scala programming and maintaining automation code.

  • Proven experience in QA automation framework development and maintenance.

  • Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, and API testing tools.

  • Experience validating microservices-based applications.

  • Strong experience in automated API testing and integration testing.

  • Knowledge of test strategy, test design, and automation best practices.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with developer-built automation frameworks.

  • Experience testing distributed systems or cloud-based applications.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing integration.


Required Soft Skills

  • Proactive mindset: Ability to identify potential issues and resolve them early in the development cycle.

  • Strong communication skills: Ability to clearly communicate technical concerns and quality risks.

  • Cross-team collaboration: Experience working with onshore and offshore teams.

  • Global team experience: Comfortable collaborating across different time zones and cultures.
