Job Title: VMware Systems Engineer
Location: Washington, DC - Remote
Duration: 12 Months
Description:
4+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing VMware vSphere, ESXi and iSCSI SAN Storage.
Strong understanding of core IT technologies (Azure AD aka Entra, TCP/IP routing, DNS, Windows Server OS, Linux OS)
Current requirements include maintaining a physical security system cluster with 6 ESXi hosts and 15 Windows 2022 VMs.
Future requirements will include working on net-new design, Bill of Material specification, installation and configuration of
VMware ESXi clusters at core client sites.
Functional requirements:
Maintaining: firmware upgrades, VMware core OS upgrades, storage array updates.
Backup and Restore
Vulnerability Management
Monitoring: performance, availability (HA health and failover testing)
Optimizing: resource allocation / workload balancing
Backup and Recovery: Design, test and implement a backup solution
Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, best-practices, and SOPs.
Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with business partners and technology infrastructure partners.
Desirable skills/knowledge:
AZure Virtual Desktop or VMWare Desktop
Citrix
ServiceNow experience
HPE Alletra Storage Array
Equinix or other co-lo site procedures
