Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Business Analyst with 15+ years of experience to serve as the bridge between business, customers, UX, and engineering teams. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in mobile application development for IoT devices, specifically companion apps, and strong domain knowledge in manufacturing, EV battery charging, or related industrial IoT ecosystems.
You will operate as the Product Owner for a strategic IoT mobile platform, driving product vision, user story creation, and end-to-end delivery while acting as the primary onsite face of the product team in the USA.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Strategy
- Own and maintain the product backlog for IoT companion mobile applications supporting connected devices in manufacturing or EV charging domains
- Define product vision, roadmap, and release plans in collaboration with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering leadership
- Prioritize features based on business value, technical feasibility, and strategic alignment
- Serve as the primary decision-maker for scope, acceptance criteria, and release content
Requirements & User Story Management
- Lead discovery workshops with customers, operations, and engineering to elicit business and technical requirements
- Translate complex IoT device behaviors, telemetry data, firmware constraints, and cloud interactions into clear, testable user stories
- Create detailed user stories with acceptance criteria, edge cases, API contracts, and device state diagrams
- Drive story grooming, sprint planning, and backlog refinement sessions with cross-functional teams
- Ensure traceability from business objectives to epics, features, stories, and test cases
Stakeholder & Customer Engagement
- Act as the onsite face of the product team with customers, partners, and field teams across the USA
- Gather and synthesize voice-of-customer feedback from manufacturing plants, EV charging operators, and end users
- Present demos, roadmaps, and release updates to executive stakeholders and customers
- Manage expectations and negotiate scope, timeline, and trade-offs with business and technical teams
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with UX/UI designers to define mobile app workflows for device onboarding, provisioning, remote monitoring, s, OTA updates, and diagnostics
- Work closely with mobile engineers, cloud architects, firmware teams, and QA to ensure technical feasibility and consistent implementation
- Collaborate with data, security, and compliance teams on telemetry, user privacy, and industry standards like ISO 15118, OCPP, or MQTT
- Coordinate with manufacturing and operations to align digital features with physical device capabilities and factory processes
Delivery & Execution
- Drive agile ceremonies and ensure timely delivery of high-quality mobile releases for iOS and Android
- Validate features against acceptance criteria through UAT with customers and internal stakeholders
- Analyze post-release metrics, app analytics, crash reports, and device connectivity data to identify improvements
- Support go-to-market activities, training materials, and customer onboarding documentation
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 15+ years as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Product Manager in software/mobile application development
- 5+ years specifically in mobile apps that connect to hardware devices via BLE, Wi-Fi, or cellular
- Proven experience executing Product Owner responsibilities in Agile/Scrum environments
- Must have delivered products from concept to launch and managed them post-production
- Prior USA-based, customer-facing experience required; ability to travel to client sites up to 25%
Domain Knowledge
- Strong understanding of at least one:
- EV Ecosystem: Battery management systems, EV charging stations, OCPP/ISO 15118, energy management, telematics
- IoT Platforms: Device shadows, digital twins, telemetry ingestion, command & control, OTA firmware management
- Familiarity with hardware-software interaction constraints: latency, offline modes, provisioning, error states
Technical Skills
- Expert in writing user stories, use cases, process flows, and sequence diagrams for mobile + IoT systems
- Proficient with JIRA, Confluence, Figma, Miro, or similar agile and design tools
- Working knowledge of mobile app architecture, REST/GraphQL APIs, MQTT, cloud platforms AWS IoT/Azure IoT Hub/Google Cloud Platform
- Ability to read API specs, JSON payloads, and discuss technical trade-offs with engineers and architects
- Understanding of mobile analytics, crashlytics, and A/B testing frameworks
