Senior AI Engineer (Contract-to-Hire) | US Remote

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior AI Engineer to join a leading healthcare retail enterprise driving large-scale AI transformation initiatives across finance, healthcare, and enterprise applications. This role offers the opportunity to design, build, and deploy production-grade Generative AI and Machine Learning solutions that deliver measurable business value.

The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in AI/ML technologies with strong full-stack Python development skills and hands-on experience building enterprise AI applications using modern GenAI frameworks, RAG architectures, vector databases, and cloud-native technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack Python-based AI applications, including frontend, backend, and API integrations.
• Build and implement production-grade Generative AI solutions leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI frameworks, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• Develop and optimize document ingestion, processing, indexing, and retrieval pipelines for enterprise-scale datasets.
• Implement and manage vector search solutions using MongoDB Atlas or similar vector databases.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, product teams, and engineering groups to define AI solution requirements and technical strategies.
• Deploy, monitor, and maintain AI applications on Azure and other cloud platforms.
• Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including architecture, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Integrate Agentic AI and Model Context Protocol (MCP) technologies into enterprise AI solutions.
• Ensure scalability, security, reliability, and performance of AI systems in production environments.
• Provide technical leadership, documentation, and knowledge sharing across teams.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering and application development experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python development across frontend, backend, and API layers.
• Proven experience designing and deploying production-ready Generative AI applications.
• Strong understanding of LLMs, Prompt Engineering, Agentic AI, and AI orchestration frameworks.
• Hands-on experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions in production.
• Experience building document ingestion, document processing, and knowledge retrieval pipelines.
• Expertise working with vector databases such as MongoDB Atlas Vector Search, Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, or similar platforms.
• Experience with Azure cloud services, Azure AI Services, and Azure OpenAI.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including architecture, design patterns, testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare industry experience.
• Experience supporting enterprise finance applications and business processes.
• SAP integration or SAP AI project experience.
• Experience developing machine learning models for prediction, anomaly detection, forecasting, or advanced analytics.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform AI/ML services.
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar AI frameworks.
