Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer with strong expertise in GraphQL and REST API development to build, enhance, and maintain a scalable middleware platform. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing production-grade APIs, building microservices, improving CI/CD automation, and deploying cloud-based services.

The role involves working with engineering teams to improve platform reliability, scalability, performance, developer productivity, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain platform capabilities while ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Build, enhance, and maintain GraphQL services, subgraphs, REST APIs, and supporting infrastructure.
• Develop and integrate microservices using Java and related backend technologies.
• Improve automation, developer tooling, onboarding processes, and technical documentation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Participate in end-to-end software delivery, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Monitor production services, troubleshoot distributed-system issues, and perform root-cause analysis.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response activities.
• Deploy and maintain backend services on AWS or other major cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong programming experience in Java and backend application development.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing GraphQL and/or REST APIs.
• Experience building, scaling, and operating APIs in production environments.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Practical experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, logging, and production troubleshooting.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to deliver projects end-to-end, from design through deployment and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GraphQL subgraphs and federated GraphQL architectures.
• Familiarity with Apollo Federation or similar GraphQL technologies.
• Experience improving developer productivity through automation and tooling.
• Knowledge of cloud-native application deployment and service reliability practices.
• Experience supporting highly available, scalable backend platforms.
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation and modern DevOps practices.
