Summary

Description The Staff Commissioning Engineer leads commissioning, retro-commissioning, and energy-related efforts for complex buildings and systems across diverse markets, including correctional, federal, aviation, manufacturing, healthcare, laboratories, higher education, and commercial buildings. This role ensures commissioning efforts are tailored to meet budgetary, design, and client-specific requirements.
  • Prepare commissioning plans, specifications and checklists based on Burns & McDonnell standards.
  • Review designs, equipment submittals, operation and maintenance manual, start-up reports, checklists, and training programs for commissioning plans.
  • Lead training operation and maintenance personnel to review operating modes, sequence of operations and specifics of equipment, operations, and maintenance of commissioning plans.
  • Document commissioning results and performance shortfalls. Collaborate with owner, operation and maintenance, design and construction personnel in recommending remedial measures.
  • Plan, schedule, and perform work for small to mid-size projects and support project teams for large projects and programs
  • Development and refinement of methodologies, tools, and standards in support of an evolving commissioning practice.
  • Lead meetings with owner, operation and maintenance, design and construction personnel to understand project goals and schedule to ensure commissioning is properly coordinated.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred Required or
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred Required or
  • Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree and 2 years of mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred Required
  • Basic knowledge in standard civil engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Understanding of site safety procedures, including electrical safety.
  • Experience with different types of stand-alone monitoring equipment including flow meters, temperature loggers, electrical meters, and others a plus.
  • Understanding and familiarity with DOE-2, eQUEST, Energy Pro, and other modeling software a plus.
  • Engineers in Training-EIT Certification Preferred

Compensation

$100,000.00-210,000.00 Yearly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
