SolarWinds-Azure Monitor Engineer IT Observability- Jackson, MI 49201 (Onsite)Job Description:
Seeking an experienced Monitoring / Observability Engineer with strong expertise in SolarWinds (NPM, SAM, Orion) and Azure Monitor to support hybrid infrastructure monitoring. Must have experience with Log Analytics, KQL queries, alert configuration, dashboards, and enterprise monitoring architecture. Knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, networking (SNMP, DNS, TCP/IP), and cloud monitoring in Azure is required. Experience with PowerShell/Python automation and ITSM integrations (ServiceNow/Jira) is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise monitoring solutions using SolarWinds and Azure Monitor.
- Administer and optimize SolarWinds platform components for monitoring network devices, servers, virtualization platforms, and storage systems.
- Configure monitoring for Windows/Linux servers, network devices, and virtualization environments.
- Implement Azure monitoring using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, alerts, and Workbooks.
- Develop and maintain KQL queries for operational analytics and monitoring insights.
- Build dashboards and alerting strategies to improve visibility and reduce alert noise.
- Support incident detection, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis across hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Automate monitoring configurations using PowerShell, Python, or Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform/Bicep).
- Integrate monitoring alerts with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Remedy.
- Maintain monitoring documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in IT monitoring, observability, or infrastructure operations.
- Hands-on experience with SolarWinds (Self-Hosted) monitoring and administration.
- Strong experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Azure alerting frameworks.
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, routing, firewalls).
- Experience building monitoring dashboards, tuning alerts, and optimizing signal-to-noise ratio.
- Proficiency in KQL (Kusto Query Language) for log analytics queries.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills in hybrid infrastructure environments.
