Job Description:
Site Reliability Engineer

Location: Greenwood Village, Colorado (Hybrid)

Role Overview

As a Senior Reliability and Optimization Engineer, you will hold responsibility for the reliability of custom, enterprise-scale experimentation and configuration management platforms. This is a hands-on, operations-weighted role focused on platform engineering, optimization, and reliability. You will become a resident expert on the system architecture and the first point of contact when the AWS footprint behaves unexpectedly, ensuring mission-critical systems remain healthy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and extend the Terraform modules that define our infrastructure; audit AWS against state, detect drift, and reconcile it.
  • Own the health of the GitLab CI/CD pipelines and enforce pipeline-only deployment with progressive promotion.
  • Operate the AWS footprint, including EKS, Helm, Istio, Aurora, DocumentDB, Redis, Amazon MQ, Route53, WAFv2, CloudFront, and S3.
  • Build, deploy, and validate releases across environments and document release notes.
  • Right-size and scale resources to meet SLAs at the lowest sustainable cost.
  • Partner with developers and test engineers to improve application performance.
  • Own monitoring and alerting end-to-end using tools such as DataDog or Splunk.
  • Provide first response, mitigation, recovery, and root-cause analysis for incidents and outages.
  • Serve as the go-to expert for infrastructure, pipeline, and resource-utilization questions.
  • Coordinate with onshore and offshore teammates and escalate architectural decisions to engineering leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years of DevOps experience within large, complex environments.
  • Experience with AWS and Terraform.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with GitLab or similar CI/CD tools for pipeline deployment.
  • Experience with Datadog or similar monitoring tools.
  • Expertise with observability tooling to build dashboards, tune alert thresholds, and investigate latency, errors, and saturation.
  • Production experience operating containerized microservice and web-based applications.
  • Demonstrated experience owning production incident triage, mitigation, and root-cause analysis under SLA pressure.
  • Familiarity with Git-based source control and branch/merge-request workflows.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with the application stack: Python, Node.js, React, TypeScript, and GraphQL.
  • Exposure to both relational (SQL) and NoSQL/document data stores.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes internals (IRSA, node groups, add-ons), Helm, and Istio service mesh.
  • Experience with blue/green or canary/progressive deployment patterns.
  • Experience with infrastructure cost optimization and resource right-sizing.
  • Experience with multi-account AWS architectures.
  • Master's degree or higher in a related field.
