CPI / EDI Integration Architect

– Summary
We are seeking a seasoned SAP CPI/EDI Integration Architect to lead and modernize enterprise integration across our supply chain ecosystem. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic architecture, focusing on scalable SAP S/4HANA integrations, EDI (X12), and API-led connectivity with customers, suppliers, and partners.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SAP Integration Suite (CPI), strong EDI and trading partner management experience, and a proven ability to design cloud-based architectures. They will drive continuous improvement, standardization, and modernization while ensuring a stable, high-performing integration landscape.
Key Expectations
· Architect and deliver scalable CPI-based and API-driven integration solutions
· Lead EDI (X12) implementations, onboarding, and lifecycle management
· Strengthen SAP S/4HANA and supply chain integrations (iDocs, APIs)
· Establish integration standards, governance, and best practices
· Partner with business and external stakeholders to enhance automation and customer experience
· Drive innovation and adoption of new SAP integration capabilities
Required Qualifications
· 15+ years of experience in SAP and EDI integration architecture and development.
· Strong hands-on experience with SAP CPI / SAP Integration Suite.
· Extensive experience with SAP S/4HANA integrations.
· Deep understanding of SAP Supply Chain modules and associated iDocs.
· Strong expertise in:
o iDoc processing and troubleshooting
o X12 EDI standards and mappings
o Trading partner onboarding and management
o API-based integrations and REST/SOAP services
· Experience designing scalable hybrid integration architectures across cloud and on-prem environments.
· Strong knowledge of SAP integration tools and middleware technologies.
· Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives leveraging SAP releases and emerging capabilities.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Strong problem-solving and architectural decision-making capabilities.
AI / BTP Enablement (Added Focus)
· Leverage SAP BTP AI services (e.g., AI Core, AI Launchpad, Joule, Document AI) to enhance integration use cases such as intelligent document processing, anomaly detection, and predictive error handling
· Identify opportunities to embed AI-driven automation in EDI and API flows (e.g., smart mapping, auto-triage, partner onboarding acceleration)
· Utilize generative AI capabilities to accelerate CPI development, monitoring insights, and root cause analysis
· Drive adoption of event-driven and AI-augmented integration patterns within SAP Integration Suite
· Collaborate with enterprise AI/CoE teams to align integration architecture with broader AI strategy
