Summary
Title: Title: Senior Full Stack Engineer – Application Modernization & Technology Lifecycle Management
Location: Remote
Duration: Contract on W2 only
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer with strong expertise across both front-end and back-end technologies to support enterprise application modernization efforts within Managed Account Exchange platform.
The ideal candidate will possess deep Java/Spring Boot experience, strong Angular development skills, and a proven track record modernizing large-scale enterprise applications. This individual should be comfortable working across the entire application stack and flexible enough to contribute wherever project priorities require.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on upgrading existing applications rather than building greenfield solutions. Success in the role requires strong technical depth, adaptability, and an understanding of modernization best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Modernization:
- Modernize existing enterprise applications to align with current technology standards.
- Upgrade legacy Java applications and frameworks.
- Refactor aging application components to improve maintainability and supportability.
- Reduce technical debt while maintaining production stability.
Front-End Engineering:
- Develop and enhance applications using Angular.
- Upgrade older Angular implementations to newer versions.
- Modernize legacy component-based user interfaces.
- Improve user experience, performance, and maintainability.
Back-End Engineering:
- Design, develop, and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Build and support applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Participate in service modernization and API enhancement initiatives.
- Support integration patterns across distributed systems.
Full Stack Development:
- Contribute across both front-end and back-end codebases.
- Troubleshoot issues spanning multiple application layers.
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, and peer engineers on solution design.
- Participate in code reviews and engineering best practices.
Modern Engineering Practices:
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and quality.
- Utilize GitHub Copilot and other AI-enhanced engineering utilities where appropriate.
- Contribute to automated testing and overall code quality improvements.
Platform & Deployment Awareness:
- Work within existing CI/CD pipelines and deployment frameworks.
- Support minor pipeline modifications when necessary.
- Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to validate deployments and releases.
Required Qualifications
- Software Engineering Experience
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Demonstrated success working in enterprise-scale application environments.
- Experience contributing throughout the software development lifecycle.
Front-End Development:
- Strong Angular development experience.
- Experience upgrading Angular versions and modernizing front-end applications.
- Knowledge of component-based architecture and modern web application development.
- Solid understanding of TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Back-End Development:
- Deep expertise with Java development.
- Strong Spring Boot experience.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices.
- Knowledge of service-oriented and distributed application architectures.
Modernization Experience:
- Experience upgrading legacy applications and frameworks.
- Ability to identify and remediate technical debt.
- Familiarity with application lifecycle management and modernization initiatives.
Software Design:
- Strong understanding of:
- Object-oriented design principles
- Design patterns
- Scalable application architecture
- Secure coding practices
Collaboration & Communication:
- Ability to work effectively with engineers, product owners, architects, and business stakeholders.
- Experience participating in technical design discussions and architecture reviews.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Micro Front-End architectures.
- Experience modernizing legacy UI technologies.
- Exposure to cloud-based application environments.
- Experience with AWS-hosted applications.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and deployment pipelines.
- Financial services industry experience.
- Experience participating in enterprise-scale platform modernization initiatives.
