Overview
We are seeking an entry-level Engineer I to support the design and construction of power-related systems. This role will apply foundational engineering principles, design standards, and software tools to contribute to project development, estimation, and execution.
The ideal candidate is motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to grow their technical expertise while collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply engineering processes, design criteria, and approved software tools to develop system designs
- Support the preparation of project estimates, design alternatives, and construction specifications
- Assist in developing construction packages, including drawings and supporting documentation
- Coordinate with internal teams involved in planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance
- Provide oversight and quality assurance reviews for contractor-developed designs, estimates, and deliverables
- Ensure adherence to established engineering standards, design practices, and work processes
- Support the development and continuous improvement of system design standards and criteria
- Assist with material take-offs and project cost estimation
- Transmit construction packages and support specifications to appropriate stakeholders
- Provide day-to-day support to construction and maintenance teams
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and maintain a safety-first work environment
- Follow all safety guidelines, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and internal engineering practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (from an accredited institution)
- 0-5 years of related engineering experience
- Minimum 2 years of CAD experience
- Experience walking down, marking up, and updating mechanical drawings (including P&IDs)
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Foundational knowledge of engineering principles and design processes
- Basic proficiency with discipline-specific engineering software tools
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to make decisions within established procedures, with guidance from supervisor
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with engineers, plant personnel, and vendors
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
