Overview
Client is seeking a Lead Architect (AJO Platform Architect) to lead high-priority platform implementations and provide ongoing platform support across marketing automation, journey orchestration, CDP, loyalty, and offer management platforms.
This role sits within the Technology team and partners closely with cross-functional teams including developers, solution architects, marketing strategists, and digital marketing specialists. The ideal candidate is adaptable, highly collaborative, and brings strong expertise in data architecture, marketing technology, and process optimization.
A passion for staying current with industry trends, marketing automation best practices, and emerging digital marketing technologies is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Leadership & Architecture
- Lead client discovery sessions to gather and define business and technical requirements.
- Translate business objectives into detailed technical specifications, including platform configuration, data schemas, and system integrations.
- Develop architecture and technical specification documentation.
- Serve as the day-to-day subject matter expert (SME) for platform-related initiatives.
- Direct technical implementation of features as needed (limited hands-on execution).
- Implementation & Delivery
- Lead configuration and development of cross-channel campaigns (email, SMS, push, in-app, etc.).
- Oversee development, testing, and deployment activities.
- Support development teams with platform integrations.
- Collaborate with project management to manage workflows, timelines, and change controls across concurrent projects.
- Support estimation, discovery, and MarTech roadmapping initiatives.
- Assist internal teams with ongoing platform and schema optimization.
- Information Security & Data Governance
- Promote and enforce information security best practices, including acceptable use policies, malware prevention, and password security.
- Identify and assess security risks impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
- Integrate data protection measures across the information lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Adobe Journey Optimizer and/or Journey Orchestration, including at least 1 year specifically with AJO.
- Demonstrated leadership of 3+ AJO implementation projects.

- Experience orchestrating journeys with external (non-native) activation systems.
- Strong data modeling experience.
- Proficiency in JSON and XML.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Adobe Journey Optimizer certification.
- Experience with HTML, MJML, CSS, and responsive email development.
- Agency experience with 2+ years in client-facing roles.
- Familiarity with Agile project methodologies.
- Deep understanding of digital marketing processes, segmentation strategies, compliance requirements, and campaign performance analysis.
