Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with strong SQL, Databricks, data analysis, and requirements gathering experience. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineering, product, and technology teams to translate business requirements into data-driven technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements.

  • Work with stakeholders to understand business processes, data needs, and reporting requirements.

  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

  • Perform advanced SQL queries and data analysis to validate business requirements and identify data issues.

  • Work closely with Data Engineering teams on Databricks-based data platforms and pipelines.

  • Analyze data across data lakes, data warehouses, and enterprise source systems.

  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks.

  • Create data mappings, source-to-target mappings, and data flow documentation.

  • Support data transformation and integration requirements.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

  • Coordinate with developers and data engineers throughout the SDLC.

  • Support UAT, defect resolution, and production validation.

  • Identify data and process gaps and recommend improvements.

  • Prepare business and technical documentation and maintain project artifacts.

  • Communicate effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or related role.

  • Strong SQL skills including complex queries, joins, CTEs, subqueries, and data validation.

  • Hands-on experience working with Databricks.

  • Strong understanding of data analysis, data modeling, and data transformation.

  • Experience with data lakes, data warehouses, ETL/ELT, and data pipelines.

  • Strong experience in requirements gathering and documentation.

  • Experience creating user stories, functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and process flows.

  • Experience with data mapping and source-to-target mapping.

  • Strong experience with UAT, data validation, and defect management.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Azure and Azure data services.

  • Experience with PySpark or Python.

  • Experience with Delta Lake and Lakehouse architecture.

  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau.

  • Knowledge of APIs and system integrations.

  • Experience working with cloud-based data platforms.

  • Healthcare, Finance, or other enterprise data-domain experience is a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • Relevant technical certifications are a plus.
