Job Description Everforth ECS is seeking an
Electrical Engineer to work
remotely .
Please Note: This position is contingent upon additional funding . Everforth ECS is looking for someone who has had design integration experience with shipboard electrical systems to become a valuable member of an engineering team providing vessel construction management of research ships. This is a fully remote position which will require some travel. Overseas travel is a possibility.
Past performance would have given the candidate experience in designing and troubleshooting onboard electrical and control issues. Having experience with
energy efficiency designs such as the
ABB onboard DC grid system or
Siemens Blue Drive plus C would be beneficial.
Duties to include providing technical evaluation of vendor proposed system designs; providing assessments on the design maturity of deliverables; and determination of expected system performance to meet operational requirements. Periodically the candidate will be required to assess electrical and/or control system designs using SKM or other industry software. Candidate will be required to write technical papers on the technical risk of system designs being able to meet
ABS/USCG/IMO design standards.
Additional duties may include drawing review/modification; shipboard material inspections; and development of ship alteration packages. Duties may include cost estimation of proposed ship construction changes and site visits to perform root cause analysis of shipboard failures. Salary range is based on years of experience.
Salary Range: $70,000-$145,000
General Description of Benefits
Required Skills - BS degree in Electrical Engineering or other engineering disciplines.
- Minimum of six (6) years' experience in the shipbuilding industry in the electrical and/or controls discipline.
- Ability to perform system design calculations and verification.
- Experience supporting ship concept/preliminary design development and performing feasibility studies.
- Ability to review/modify drawings for technical completeness.
- Experience with ShipConstructor, SKM, Navisworks, SolidWorks and other ship design software.
- Understanding of ABS, USCG and other regulatory agencies rules as they pertain to shipboard electrical systems.
- Ability to work remotely/independently with minimal supervision.
Desired Skills - PE (Professional Engineering License) in Electrical Engineering or other engineering disciplines.
- Shipboard operating experience with scientific/research ships.
- Ability to lead the development of design/technical specification.
- Experience with ship construction/repair oversight.
- Experience with ABB onboard DC grid system or similar energy efficiency systems.
- Experience with cost estimating.
- Experience with ship systems testing and acceptance.
