Position Overview
This position serves as the primary technical authority responsible for supporting and maintaining a mature IBM i (AS/400) environment and its COBOL-based business applications. The primary focus is on sustaining, optimizing, troubleshooting, and enhancing existing applications rather than developing new systems.
The role also supports the organization''s migration from IBM i to Hyland OnBase WorkView, including data migration, integration planning, and ensuring operational continuity.
Important Submission Requirement
Candidates must have hands-on development experience with Salesforce Public Sector Solutions (PSS) dedicated data model, specifically:
- Licensing
- Permitting
- Inspections (LPI) PSS data models
- End-to-end data migration from legacy systems into Salesforce
Candidates without this exact Salesforce PSS development experience should NOT be submitted.
Responsibilities
Primary – System Support & Optimization (90%)
- Maintain and optimize COBOL applications on IBM i (AS/400)
- Troubleshoot and resolve application and system issues
- Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes
- Manage batch jobs, file transfers, and system integrations
- Monitor system performance using IBM i tools (WRKACTJOB, job queues, etc.)
- Support SQL-based data access and maintain data integrity
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders
- Maintain technical documentation
- Support:
- PC5250 emulator
- Print queues
- Output queues
- Spool file management
Secondary – Migration & Administration (10%)
- Support migration from IBM i to Hyland OnBase WorkView
- Assist with:
- Data transition planning
- Integration support
- Operational continuity
- User profile management
- Security/authority updates
- Job scheduling
- BRMS backup & restore support
- Participate in migration testing and validation
