We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controller to join our team in the construction industry. This is a dynamic role where you will be responsible for managing the financial health of our company, overseeing the production of financial reports, and developing strategies based on financial research. You will guide the senior management team in making sound business decisions in the long and short term. This position requires a deep understanding of the construction industry, specifically in subcontracting, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), and managing M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions), Acquisition, and Integration.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all company accounting practices, including accounting departments, preparing budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions.
  • Direct financial strategy, planning and forecasts; conferring with the CEO, COO and the leadership team.
  • Study, analyze and report on trends, opportunities for expansion and projection of future company growth.
  • Oversee the investment of funds and manage associated risks, supervise cash management activities, execute capital-raising strategies to support a firm's expansion.
  • Monitor and manage subcontracting, MEP, M&A, Acquisition, and Integration activities.
  • Utilize the viewpoint software for project management, accounting, and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports.
  • Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. An MBA or related advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in managing, guiding, and leading employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.
  • Strong understanding of subcontracting, MEP, M&A, Acquisition, and Integration.
  • Proficient in using viewpoint software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
