Senior Technical Documentation SpecialistOverview:The Senior Technical Documentation Specialist will be responsible for producing, revising, and managing comprehensive documentation across IT infrastructure domains, including cloud platforms, networking, data center operations, and system architecture. This role partners closely with engineers, system administrators, and various technical teams to create clear, accurate, and accessible materials. The specialist ensures all documentation adheres to compliance requirements, cybersecurity guidelines, and established operational standards.
Primary Responsibilities- Develop and continuously update documentation covering IT infrastructure areas such as cloud environments, network operations, data center systems, and administrative procedures.
- Produce technical assets including user manuals, SOPs, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and related support documents.
- Build FAQs, training modules, and knowledge-base entries for internal IT teams and end-users.
- Design diagrams and visual aids with tools like Visio, Lucidchart, or draw.io to clearly represent infrastructure and architectural concepts.
- Document system configurations, architecture designs, and recommended best practices for technical teams.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to convert advanced technical information into straightforward, understandable documentation.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, security frameworks, regulatory obligations, and brand standards.
- Oversee version control and maintain documentation repositories such as ServiceNow, Confluence, and SharePoint.
- Work proactively with DevOps, cloud engineering, networking, and cybersecurity teams to maintain up-to-date documentation as systems evolve. Review usage metrics and feedback from knowledge-base articles to determine revision needs.
- Edit, proofread, and conduct peer reviews to guarantee consistency and clarity across all technical content.
- Integrate RAG/AI-aligned documentation practices to improve searchability and discoverability for users.
- Apply documentation lifecycle management principles to all published knowledge assets.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging practices in technical writing, IT governance, and documentation standards.
- Ensure all materials comply with healthcare-related regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, and HITRUST.
- Support the development and maintenance of disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BCP) documentation.
Qualifications- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to translate complex IT topics into concise and easy-to-understand content.
- Solid understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform), networking concepts, and system administration.
- Proficiency with documentation and collaboration platforms such as Confluence, Teams, SharePoint, Slack, Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Paint Shop Pro, and Atlassian Jira.
- Familiarity with Git and other version-control and collaboration tools.
- Experience gathering information from engineers and SMEs to validate and refine documentation.
- Knowledge of ITIL, DevOps methodologies, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in technical writing or technical communications, including exposure to process management and documentation strategy.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
- Experience with version control processes, including developing and implementing new documentation workflows.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.00 - $45.00/hr.
