DescriptionMarkon is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the Naval Nuclear Laboratory's Facility Design organization at the Knolls site. This position will work within a multidisciplinary project team supporting building and utility construction projects, from defining project scope and developing design documentation through construction-phase engineering and coordination with facility personnel, contractors, and architectural engineering firms.
NOTE: This position requires regular onsite work at the Knolls location and may be performed remotely up to 20% of the time.
Responsibilities- Work within a project team environment to support construction projects at the Knolls site.
- Collaborate with project sponsors to develop and define project scope.
- Work with multidisciplinary project teams to develop project specifications.
- Develop and support project cost estimates.
- Perform engineering reviews of project drawings and design documentation.
- Provide structural engineering support throughout the construction phase of building and utility projects.
- Oversee architectural and engineering firms in the development of project concept designs.
- Oversee the development and review of construction documents and associated cost estimates.
- Develop and review structural engineering calculations and contract documents.
- Support construction administration activities, including submittal reviews and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Support construction inspections and resolution of engineering issues encountered during construction.
- Apply applicable building codes and engineering standards to structural design and construction activities.
- Coordinate and interact with facility staff and contractors throughout project execution.
QualificationsRequired:- Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Engineering.
- Experience performing structural engineering tasks.
- Experience developing contract documents, engineering calculations, and cost estimates.
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards.
- Experience with construction administration, including:
- Submittal reviews.
- Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Construction inspections.
- Related construction-phase engineering activities.
Desired:- An active DOE L clearance or active DoD Secret or above.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and/or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Engineering consulting experience.
- Working knowledge of New York State Building Codes.
- Working knowledge of AISC standards.
- Working knowledge of ASCE standards.
Salary RangeUSD $120,000.00 - USD $140,000.00 /Yr.
