Job Title: Programmer Analyst 6 (Business Analyst)
Location: Lansing, MI
Duration: 12 Months
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Programmer Analyst to support enterprise-level IT projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and adherence to established project management and system engineering methodologies. This role involves working closely with business and technical teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and support testing and implementation efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure project alignment with organizational strategic plans
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions (Agile/Waterfall) and analyze business processes
- Translate business requirements into user stories with clear acceptance criteria
- Participate in solution design discussions and support architecture assessments
- Lead artifact reviews to ensure compliance with policies, standards, and guidelines
- Develop system and data flow diagrams for project documentation and RFPs
- Collaborate with Product Owners to prioritize backlogs based on business value and dependencies
- Conduct Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos, and retrospectives
- Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM)
- Perform functional, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Validate test data/results and manage defect tracking and resolution
- Develop training materials and facilitate training sessions
- Maintain communication with stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams
- Serve as liaison between business units, technical teams, and external partners
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field
- Strong experience in Agile/Hybrid environments
- Experience translating business requirements into user stories with acceptance criteria
- Ability to break down complex requirements into actionable tasks
- Experience working with vendor-supported or hosted solutions
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role
- 4+ years of Agile experience (Scrum/Kanban)
- Experience with Azure DevOps or similar tools
- Experience with Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Experience with Oracle or SQL Server databases
