Audio Visual (AV) Technician - Commercial InstallationsWe are seeking experienced
AV Technicians to support commercial installation projects involving structured cabling, conferencing systems, and audiovisual equipment. This is a hands-on, client-facing role working on active job sites, responsible for installation, testing, and troubleshooting of AV systems.
Key Responsibilities- Install and configure AV systems including:
- Cameras, speakers, microphones, and displays
- Conference room systems and rack builds
- Perform structured cabling tasks including:
- Running and terminating Cat5e/Cat6 cabling
- Working with mic wire and speaker cable
- Punch-downs using 66 and 110 blocks
- Install and test equipment to ensure full system functionality prior to project completion
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites (including cable management and concealment)
- Troubleshoot AV and connectivity issues as needed
- Support system configuration (locally or via remote engineering teams)
- Work closely with team members and clients in professional environments
Required Skills & Experience- Customer-facing experience with strong professionalism and communication skills
- Hands-on experience with commercial AV installations
- Experience installing and testing:
- Speakers, cameras, TVs, and conferencing systems
- Strong low-voltage cabling and termination skills
- Experience with:
- Cat5e/Cat6 cabling, mic wire, and speaker cable
- Knowledge of NEC requirements and low-voltage best practices
- Familiarity with AV equipment platforms such as:
- Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Cisco Webex, QSC
- Ability to climb ladders (8-10 ft) and perform physical installation work
- Must have a personal laptop for configuration support
- Reliable transportation (company vehicle provided upon permanent hire)
- Willingness to travel as needed (not constant, but required periodically)
Preferred Qualifications- Experience configuring Cisco Webex Room Kits
- Ability to work with or program AV control systems (a strong plus, not required)
- Experience with rack builds and system integration
- Familiarity with Biamp audio systems

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
