Java Consultant (Backend)

Overview:

• We are looking for a talented and experienced Backend Software Engineer.
• As a backend software engineer, you will design, develop, and test scalable server-side applications and services using Java, Node.js, and PostgreSQL, while working directly with clients to understand their needs and deliver reliable solutions.
• This position offers the opportunity to support multiple clients in a remote, stable, long-term contractengagement.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and test backend applications and services using Java, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
• Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure and services on Microsoft Azure.
• Partner directly with clients to gather requirements, provide technical recommendations, and communicate progress and tradeoffs.
• Collaborate with engineers to design and implement software architecture, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Write unit tests and follow Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications alongside product managers and stakeholders.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.
• Debug and troubleshoot software issues across the stack, including live client environments.
• Manage multiple client projects while balancing priorities and expectations.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience with direct client-facing experience.
• Strong programming skills in Java and Node.js.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and relational database design.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure (App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL/Storage, or similar).
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Experience using Git and other version control systems.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent client communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
• Understanding of modern DevOps principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Azure Service Bus.
