Job Description ECS is seeking a
Junior Data Engineer to work in a hybrid remote/onsite capacity, with minimum of 3 business days onsite at our
Fairfax, VA ECS office and/or our
Springfield, VA customer site.
ECS seeks a Junior Data Engineer to support a project team responsible for managing an Artificial Intelligence initiative. The work is performed in a multidisciplinary and collaborative team environment. This role will report to a project lead and will focus on developing and maintaining data pipelines, as well as performing data analysis, to support Artificial Intelligence development across multiple classification levels and environments.
Position Responsibilities:
- Participate in technical exchange meetings and discussions with our customers, vendors, and internal team to help coordinate, prioritize, and track datasets supporting AI efforts.
- Work in person at the required office and, as needed, classified locations with team members and customer stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and Data Team to determine data requirements.
- Help cultivate an environment that promotes customer service, excellence, innovation, collaboration, and teamwork.
- Extract, transform, and load data to prepare for ingestion into Machine Learning (ML) development environments.
- Assist with the design and development of data services and pipelines, working to optimize data delivery and automate manual processes.
- Independently identify, document, and address technical challenges.
- Perform multiple tasks simultaneously and successfully under changing priorities and deadlines.
- Complete data analysis, catering results to the customer in a holistic and easy-to-understand way.

Required Skills - Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance
- A Bachelor's Degree in Data Engineering, Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field
- 0-3+ years of working experience in one of the related areas: Data Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Data Science
- Demonstrated proficiency with Python, Pyspark, and/or SQL
- Experience with text parsing
- Experience transforming and manipulating data sets
- Excellent communication skills, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities
Desired Skills - Active Secret Clearance
- Experience with Databricks or other data management platforms
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning (AI/ML) development, particularly computer vision
- Experience working with cloud technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, etc.)
- Experience with Linux
