Dynatrace Engineer
Dynatrace Platform Expertise
• Installing and configuring the Dynatrace OneAgent on Linux/Windows hosts.
• Deploying the Dynatrace ActiveGate (Environment ActiveGate + Cluster ActiveGate).
• Experience integrating Dynatrace with Kubernetes / GKE, including:
o OneAgent Operator / Dynatrace Operator
o Kubernetes monitoring setup
o Auto discovery setup
• Setting up deployment automation using Helm charts or Terraform.
Dynatrace Environment Configuration
• Configuring:
o Management zones
o Tagging rules (automatic and manual)
o Host groups
o Alerting profiles & maintenance windows
• Setting up synthetic monitors, log ingestion, and custom event alerts.
Monitoring & Observability Skills
• Configuring infrastructure monitoring for Google Cloud Platform services (e.g., Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, GKE, Cloud Storage).
• Enabling APM for Java, .NET, Python, Node.js applications running on Google Cloud Platform.
• Setting up distributed tracing, service flow, and problem detection rules.
• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry (optional but valuable).
Dashboarding & Analytics Skills
• Building Dynatrace dashboards using:
o Custom charts
o Data explorer
o Dashboard JSON templates
• Experience creating role based dashboards for leadership, operations, and development teams.
• Skill in defining KPIs, SLOs/SLIs, and visualization best practices.
Integration & Automation Skills
• Integrating Dynatrace with:
o Google Cloud Platform Cloud Logging
o Cloud Monitoring (Stackdriver)
o ServiceNow, Jira, PagerDuty, or other ITSM tools
• CI/CD pipeline integration (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• API knowledge for:
o Metric ingestion (Metrics API v2)
o Configuration API
o Automation of tagging and alerting rules
Security & Governance
• Understanding Dynatrace IAM roles and permissions.
• Ensuring tag based governance and secure traffic between OneAgents and ActiveGates.
• Compliance with enterprise monitoring policies.
