Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Dynamics 365 Solution Architect to lead an assessment of North America's adoption of an existing global Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management (D365 F&SCM) template.
The architect will evaluate business process fit, solution architecture, scalability, data and integration alignment, and configuration versus customization requirements. This role will work closely with business and IT stakeholders to identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and opportunities, and provide recommendations that support an executive-level business case, implementation roadmap, and investment plan.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in D365 F&SCM architecture, strong business process knowledge across Finance and Supply Chain, experience with global ERP transformation programs, and the ability to lead discussions with senior business and IT stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Global D365 Template & Architecture Assessment
Review the existing global Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM template, architecture, and deployment approach.
Assess the North American application landscape, integrations, platforms, and technology dependencies.
Evaluate alignment with the organization's global technology and data strategy.
Assess the scalability of the D365 solution to support current and future business growth.
Identify architecture gaps, risks, dependencies, constraints, and opportunities.
Evaluate the suitability of the existing global template for North American adoption.
2. Business Process Fit Assessment
Lead business and technical workshops with stakeholders across:
Finance
Supply Chain
Sales
Procurement
Inventory
Distribution
Responsibilities include:
Assess North American business processes against standard D365 capabilities and the existing global template.
Identify process gaps and North America-specific localization requirements.
Identify industry-specific business requirements.
Recommend opportunities to leverage standard D365 functionality and minimize unnecessary customization.
Document business process deviations and their architectural impact.
3. Solution Architecture & Design
Define configuration versus customization requirements.
Identify required integrations, extensions, ISV solutions, and reporting capabilities.
Evaluate the impact of data architecture and platform dependencies.
Assess integration patterns and dependencies across the enterprise application landscape.
Develop the recommended target-state solution architecture.
Provide guidance on scalability, maintainability, security, and long-term solution viability.
Evaluate architecture considerations related to AI, Microsoft Copilot, and agent-based solutions.
Identify opportunities to leverage the broader Microsoft ecosystem, including Azure, Power Platform, and Dataverse.
4. Executive Advisory & Business Case Support
Present assessment findings, recommendations, risks, and key decisions to business and IT leadership.
Translate complex technical and architectural findings into clear business recommendations.
Support development of the implementation roadmap.
Provide recommendations covering:
o Key implementation phases
o Dependencies
o Risks
o Assumptions
o Resource requirements
o High-level investment estimates
Contribute to the executive-level business case and materials required for the November budgeting cycle.
Support leadership in evaluating implementation options and investment considerations.
Required Qualifications & Experience
15+ years of experience in ERP, enterprise architecture, or solution architecture.
10+ years of hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management (D365 F&SCM) experience.
Strong functional and architectural understanding of:
o Finance
o Supply Chain
o Sales
o Procurement
o Inventory
o Distribution
Proven experience with global ERP templates and multi-country implementations/rollouts.
Strong experience designing and assessing cloud-based enterprise architectures.
Experience evaluating:
o D365 standard functionality
o Configuration
o Customization
o Integrations
o Extensions
o ISV solutions
Experience leading business and technical workshops with senior stakeholders.
Strong executive communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business and investment recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Consumer Products / CPG / FMCG industry experience is highly preferred.
Experience with large-scale D365 transformation and global template adoption programs.
Experience working with North American business requirements and regulatory/localization considerations.
Knowledge of:
o Microsoft Azure
o Power Platform
o Dataverse
o Enterprise integration technologies
Experience assessing AI, Microsoft Copilot, and agent-based capabilities within enterprise architecture.
Experience developing executive-level business cases and enterprise transformation roadmaps.
Experience supporting budgeting and investment planning for large-scale ERP programs.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a senior-level D365 F&SCM Solution Architect / Enterprise Architect who has worked on large global ERP transformation programs and understands both the technical architecture and business processes behind D365.
The candidate should be comfortable moving between hands-on architecture discussions, business process workshops, executive presentations, and strategic roadmap development.
