Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Solar Commissioning & Repair Technician to support distributed generation (DG) solar projects. This role is responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing solar PV systems across multiple sites. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with electrical systems, solar equipment, and field operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform commissioning activities for solar PV systems including inverter startup, system validation, and utility interconnection
• Troubleshoot and repair solar PV components such as modules, inverters, combiner boxes, and trackers
• Diagnose issues in single-axis tracker systems (Valmont, Array Technologies, Terrasmart, etc.)
• Conduct electrical testing (AC/DC systems, IV curve tracing, insulation resistance testing, thermal imaging)
• Work with SCADA systems for monitoring, communication validation, and performance checks
• Maintain documentation including commissioning reports, punch lists, and repair logs
• Ensure compliance with safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, LOTO, arc flash)
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, engineers, and project managers
• Provide daily site status updates and reporting

Required Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (Technical certification preferred)
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in solar PV installation, commissioning, or maintenance
• Strong knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems (up to medium voltage)
• Experience with electrical testing tools (multimeter, clamp meter, megger, IV curve tracer)
• Ability to work in outdoor environments and travel extensively
• Valid driver s license with clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• NABCEP PV Installation Professional (PVIP) or Associate Certification
• Experience with tracker systems (Valmont, Terrasmart, Array Technologies)
• Familiarity with Also Energy SCADA systems
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
• Experience in brownfield or landfill solar sites

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to walk long distances across large solar sites and uneven terrain
