AI Guardrails Engineer

Concord, CA

We are seeking an AI Guardrails Engineer to strengthen the safety and control posture of our AI and agent systems. This role automates adversarial testing, validates guardrail effectiveness, and packages repeatable evidence that supports model and agent enablement gates — ensuring releases meet responsible AI and regulatory standards before approval.

Key Responsibilities

Design and automate adversarial and red-team testing programs for LLMs and agent-based systems
Validate and continuously test content and policy guardrails for effectiveness and coverage gaps
Build and maintain test harnesses to systematically probe model and agent behavior under adversarial conditions
Support model and agent enablement gates, ensuring systems meet defined safety and risk thresholds prior to release
Implement security testing practices specific to AI/LLM attack surfaces (prompt injection, jailbreaks, data exfiltration, etc.)
Develop and enforce model-risk controls aligned with organizational and regulatory requirements
Package and automate repeatable control evidence for audit, compliance, and approval workflows
Partner with model, product, and compliance teams to operationalize Responsible AI principles
Support regulated delivery processes, ensuring documentation and controls meet governance standards
Maintain Python-based automation for test execution, evidence generation, and reporting

Required Skills & Experience

Experience with Responsible AI frameworks and principles in production settings
Hands-on background in adversarial and red-team testing of ML/LLM systems
Familiarity with content and policy guardrail design and validation techniques
Working knowledge of security testing methodologies applied to AI systems
Understanding of model-risk controls and governance frameworks
Experience building test harnesses and automated testing pipelines
Strong Python programming skills
Experience with evidence automation for audit/compliance purposes
Prior experience in regulated delivery environments (finance, healthcare, or similar)
