Controls Engineer

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana (Onsite)

Role Overview

An experienced Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer is sought to support production operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is hands-on and requires significant time on the production floor responding to equipment issues, minimizing downtime, and ensuring manufacturing equipment operates safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical expert for troubleshooting, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to production issues and equipment failures, serving as the technical lead during unplanned downtime events.
  • Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, machinery, and tooling issues, providing technical support to maintenance, tooling, and production teams.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement preventive maintenance programs and procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute equipment repairs, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Verify and approve the safe release of equipment back to production following maintenance.
  • Lead Kaizen and continuous improvement events to increase production output and improve efficiency.
  • Utilize maintenance management systems, tooling management systems, and other operational planning tools.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction, quality improvement, and safety enhancement initiatives.
  • Promote and maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and all applicable safety standards.
  • Foster positive working relationships within a unionized manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, maintenance engineering, or equipment reliability.
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting production equipment and responding to machine downtime.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Experience working with maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Demonstrated success leading continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Experience working within a unionized facility.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement experience.
  • Understanding of safety and regulatory compliance standards in manufacturing operations.
Work Schedule

This position is for the first shift, Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Frequent overtime is expected on Fridays and may be required on Saturdays based on production needs.

Assignment Details

The assignment is anticipated to run through September 30, 2026. An extension may be possible based on business needs. An opportunity for direct hire may become available based on performance and business requirements.
