Summary

SAP Production Planning (PP)/Plant Maintenance (PM) Senior Architect

AMAT

Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Job ID: 527324

CRH's Americas Materials division is the leading integrated supplier of aggregates, asphalt, ready mixed concrete and paving and construction services in North America. Our operations span North America with over 29,000 employees at close to 1,660 locations in 45 US States and 2 Canadian provinces.

Position Overview

We are seeking an SAP PP/PM Resource with 10+ years of hands-on experience configuring and supporting production planning and plant maintenance processes, including material master data, bills of material (BOM), and production recipes. The ideal candidate is skilled at hands-on integration of SAP with in-house and third-party production systems as well as plant maintenance/EAM platforms such as Hexagon. This role will partner closely with Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Quality teams to improve production planning accuracy, equipment reliability, and system integration across the plant floor.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Business Process Design & Improvement
  • Act as the primary business-facing process owner for PP and PM - spending regular, recurring time with business leads in Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Quality.
  • Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand gaps and pain points, translate business needs into functional requirements, and design scalable, efficient PP and PM processes.
  • Define and track KPIs and process performance metrics jointly with business owners, and report progress back to them on a regular cadence.
  • Establish and run a standing business process governance forum (e.g., monthly PP and PM process review) to surface emerging issues, prioritize backlog items, and keep process design decisions transparent and business-led.

Driving Design Workshops & Business Engagement
  • Own end-to-end workshop planning and delivery: define objectives, identify the right stakeholders, build the agenda, and drive the session to concrete, documented decisions and next steps.
  • Plan and facilitate requirements-gathering and process design workshops with cross-functional stakeholders across Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Quality - driving discussions toward decisions rather than open-ended brainstorming.
  • Run fit-gap and solution design sessions with business and technical teams, presenting options, trade-offs, and recommendations, and driving alignment on process decisions and configuration approaches.
  • Use visual facilitation techniques (process maps, whiteboarding, journey maps) in live sessions to help business stakeholders see and agree on the proposed design in real time.
  • Manage constructive conflict in workshops - surfacing and resolving competing priorities between functions (e.g., Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Quality) to reach a workable, business-endorsed outcome.

Production Planning (PP) Configuration
  • Configure and support SAP Production Planning, including material master data, bills of material (BOM), master recipes, routings, and work center setup across multiple production lines.
  • Maintain material master records, BOMs, and recipes to support new product introductions and production process changes.
  • Support production order processing, backflushing, and goods movements within SAP PP.

Plant Maintenance (PM) Configuration
  • Support SAP Plant Maintenance processes, including maintenance order types, work orders, and equipment master data (functional locations, equipment records).
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance processes to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Assist in plant maintenance master data setup, including functional locations and equipment records.

Systems Integration - In-House & Third-Party Production Systems
  • Lead and support hands-on integration between SAP PP and in-house production execution systems, ensuring accurate flow of production orders, confirmations, and material consumption data.
  • Manage integration between SAP PP and third-party production systems, coordinating with internal application teams to resolve data mapping and interface issues.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues and support ongoing data reconciliation between SAP and connected production systems.

Systems Integration - Hexagon EAM
  • Lead and support the hands-on integration between SAP PM and Hexagon EAM, synchronizing asset data, work order status, and maintenance history between systems.
  • Support data mapping and issue resolution for equipment and work order records shared between SAP PM and Hexagon EAM.

Team & Stakeholder Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of SAP functional analysts/consultants supporting PP and PM.
  • Act as primary liaison between business stakeholders (Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality) and technical teams.
  • Manage vendor and implementation partner relationships for PP and PM-related projects and integrations.
  • Prepare and present status updates, roadmaps, and risk assessments to senior leadership.

Project & Change Management
  • Lead SAP PP and PM enhancement projects, upgrades, and rollouts, including requirements gathering, solution design, testing, and deployment.
  • Ensure proper documentation of business processes, configuration, and support procedures.
  • Drive adherence to change management, testing, and release governance standards.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance/internal controls across PP and PM processes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of hands-on SAP Production Planning (PP) and Plant Maintenance (PM) experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with material master data, bills of material (BOM), and production recipes/master recipes.
  • Hands-on experience with routings, work center configuration, and production order processing (including backflushing and goods movements).
  • Hands-on experience configuring SAP Plant Maintenance, including work orders, maintenance order types, task lists, and equipment/functional location master data.
  • Proven hands-on experience integrating SAP PP with in-house and third-party production systems.
  • Hands-on experience integrating SAP PM with a plant maintenance/EAM platform; experience with Hexagon EAM preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with business and technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Production Planning and Manufacturing / Asset Management.
  • SAP certification(s) in Production Planning and Manufacturing or Asset Management (Plant Maintenance).
  • Direct hands-on experience with Hexagon EAM or similar EAM/CMMS platforms.
  • Experience in process manufacturing industries (e.g., building materials, chemicals).
  • Experience with middleware/integration tooling (e.g., SAP PI/PO, SAP CPI) supporting PP/PM integrations.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum delivery environment.

Key Competencies
  • Strong analytical mindset with close attention to data accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities across production planning and maintenance functions.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration across Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality, and IT.
  • Proactive problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Clear, effective communicator across all levels of the organization.
