Java Developer

Our client is looking for a Java Developer to assist in the modernization of web application(s). Within this modernization effort the candidate will provide technical expertise in migrating application(s) to Spring Boot, upgrading Java versions, updating presentation layer technologies, migrating applications to container hosted environments, and provide guidance in the development of a DevSecOps and CI/CD development pipeline following industry best practices.

They are looking for someone with strong experience in Java, MVC pattern implementation (Struts, Spring), full lifecycle testing, microservice architecture patterns, and Agile Scrum project management methodology.  Strong candidates should also have experience with container creation and deployment, DevSecOps best practices, and modern presentation layer technologies.

Tasks:

·        Responsible for the design, development, and support of enterprise-wide application(s).

·        Enhance existing application(s) with new features as well as modernizing existing application(s)

·        Solve complex technical problems

·        Design, develop and provide technical leadership to the modernization effort.

·        Develop testing methodology and criteria and implement them on automated build processes.

·        Lead efforts for modernizing Java application(s) to Spring Boot following industry best practices.

·        Develop application presentation layers using modern JavaScript/TypeScript technologies such as Angular.

·        Provide technical leadership to moving application(s) toward a microservices and modern looking architecture.

NOTE: Candidates must be WI residents or willing to relocate to WI prior to starting the role at their own expense. This position will work mostly remote from within the State of Wisconsin. There will be a requirement to come into the Madison office at least once every other week for one day (of the project team’s choosing) for sprint planning and, work collaboration purposes. In the future if situation warrants, we expect the candidate to be flexible to accommodate the business needs as it relates to working from office.

·        5+ years - SQL experience

·        5+ years - Experience working in Hybrid and Agile Methodologies

·        Experience working with industry standard patterns for modernization (i.e. lift and shift, strangler, etc.)

·        Bachelor''s Degree in a related field

 Skills Desired – A plus to have:

·        4+ years - Experience with AWS Cloud based development

·        3+ years - Experience with DevSecOps Best Practices, including leveraging SonarQube

·        5+ years - Experience with Automated Testing Best Practices

·        4+ years - Experience with Oracle and PL/SQL stored procedure

·        4+ years - Java Batch experience

·        5+ years - Automated Testing Best Practices

·        Experience working with Liberty, Maven, IntelliJ, Java 21

·        Leveraging GitHub Co-Pilot or similar GenAI based IDE tools to accelerate software development and testing practices

·        Experience working with Box APIs
