Software Quality Engineer
Location: Fort Worth, TX - Onsite
Job Type: Contract 12 months +

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Quality Engineer to support aerospace and defense software programs. This role will ensure that software development processes, requirements, design, testing, and documentation meet company, contractual, and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with aerospace/defense software processes, software quality, requirements, verification, audits, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review and approve systems, software, and test equipment requirements and documentation for compliance.
  • Work closely with software/systems engineers, test teams, project managers, and engineering teams.
  • Ensure software processes and deliverables meet company, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support software process audits and identify program risks and compliance issues.
  • Participate in software change control boards and program reviews.
  • Review software development and testing processes throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support software requirements development, design, coding, and verification activities.
  • Review technical specifications, contracts, schematic drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Support software supplier audits and program activities as needed.
  • Mentor and train junior employees when required.
  • Communicate technical information through meetings, presentations, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Travel occasionally to support program activities and supplier audits.
Must Have Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 11+ years of directly related experience in aerospace/defense software processes.
  • Strong hands-on experience with aerospace/defense software standards, including one or more of:
    • RTCA DO-178
    • RTCA DO-254
    • SAE ARP-4754
    • MIL-STD-498
  • Experience with software requirements development.
  • Understanding of software development and software testing methodologies.
  • Experience with software quality assurance, process compliance, and auditing.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, contracts, schematic drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Experience with software design and coding using C, C++, Ada, or other embedded programming languages.
  • Knowledge of embedded software/hardware verification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, listening, and technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting government customer programs.
  • Experience supporting FAA-related projects.
  • Previous experience with aerospace or defense programs.
  • Experience performing or supporting software supplier audits.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior engineers.
  • Familiarity with formal software quality and audit techniques.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior aerospace/defense software quality professional with 11+ years of experience who understands regulated software development, quality processes, requirements, verification, and compliance.
