We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a Global Automotive Company located in Raymond, OH to lead the design and development of automotive electrical components from concept through mass production. This role requires deep technical expertise, advanced CAD proficiency, strong manufacturing knowledge, and demonstrated leadership in managing complex engineering programs.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design and release of 3D models and 2D drawings for automotive electrical components, including vision systems, radar systems, safety sensors, control units, and mounting brackets
Conduct design feasibility assessments, cost analysis, strength calculations, and material selection
Develop detailed part construction strategies and engineering specifications
Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and optimize designs for performance, cost efficiency, and weight reduction
Plan, schedule, and coordinate prototyping, fabrication, validation, and manufacturing activities
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure a seamless transition from concept development to mass production
Manage multiple technical projects concurrently while meeting quality, cost, and timing objectives
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering team members
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience, or
Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience
Technical Skills & Tools:
Advanced proficiency in CATIA V5 and V6
VPM Navigator
Experience with automotive drawing standards and documentation practices
Advanced surfacing capabilities
Meshing and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Sheet metal design
CAE tools
Draft analysis
Digital Mockup (SPA)
Manufacturing Knowledge:
Sheet metal manufacturing processes (forming, stamping, welding)
Injection molding processes
Understanding of manufacturing process control and production support
Engineering Competencies:
Strong expertise in tolerance stack-up and dimensional management
Proven ability to optimize part design for functionality, cost, and weight
Demonstrated leadership and ability to achieve technical project objectives
Advanced project management skills with experience handling multiple concurrent programs

Rate: $50 W2 per hour
Onsite Requirement: 80/20 minimum with up to 5 days onsite if required for business needs
