About the Role This role is responsible for the analysis, design, testing, and troubleshooting of complex electrical systems used in advanced aerospace and defense applications. The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead design verification activities, perform detailed system evaluations, conduct failure investigations, and mentor other engineers. This position requires strong technical leadership, hands-on testing experience, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities - Perform analysis, design, verification, and testing of complex electrical system designs.
- Review internal, external, industry, customer, and range requirements to support system and subsystem development.
- Conduct detailed technical analyses and present findings to management and customers.
- Lead test program planning, development, coordination, and execution activities.
- Lead troubleshooting and comprehensive failure investigations for electrical systems.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical guidance and conducting senior peer reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, IPTs, operations, and manufacturing groups.
- Apply broad electrical engineering standards and demonstrate working knowledge of adjacent disciplines.
- Prepare and present technical documentation for design and requirements reviews.
- Perform qualification, acceptance, and characterization testing, including data analysis and trend evaluation.
- Characterize off-nominal component behavior and identify performance degradation indicators.
- Participate in trade studies and evaluate technical, schedule, cost, and risk factors.
- Ensure safe engineering practices and escalate issues appropriately when required.
- Provide formal peer reviews of designs, analyses, and test documentation.
Required Qualifications & Skills - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience OR Master's degree with 3+ years.
- Strong background in electrical system design, analysis, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience interpreting requirements, specifications, schematics, and technical drawings.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with missile systems or comparable defense/aerospace architectures.
- Hands-on experience designing, testing, integrating, or deploying electrical subsystems.
- Prior experience releasing engineering documentation (drawings, specs, test procedures).
- Experience performing root-cause investigations and closing nonconformances.
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, loads).
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, or similar analytical tools for data reduction and characterization.
- Strong problem-solving skills across technical, schedule, cost, and resource domains.
- Experience mentoring and cross-training engineers on electrical system architectures.
