The
Database Administrator 2 with strong
PostgreSQL and ETL expertise to support mission-critical database operations in a secure enterprise environment. This role will focus heavily on
PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, scripting, data movement, and ETL support, while also requiring working knowledge of Oracle database administration and cloud-based database platforms.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience managing PostgreSQL environments, supporting ETL workflows, optimizing database performance, and maintaining secure, reliable data systems across on-prem and cloud-hosted infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities - Administer, maintain, and support PostgreSQL database environments, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backup, recovery, and performance tuning
- Support ETL processes and data integration workflows, ensuring reliable movement, transformation, and validation of data across multiple systems
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot PostgreSQL scripts, stored procedures, and database objects using PL/pgSQL
- Manage PostgreSQL schemas, user roles, permissions, access controls, and security models
- Perform database performance analysis and tuning using explain plans, monitoring tools, query optimization, indexing strategies, and normalization techniques
- Support backup and recovery operations using tools such as pg_dump, pg_basebackup, and point-in-time recovery (PITR)
- Work closely with application, ETL, and infrastructure teams to support data pipelines, database interfaces, and external system integrations
- Provide database administration support for Oracle environments, including configuration, upgrades, backup and recovery, and performance troubleshooting
- Support Oracle 19c/21c environments, including experience with Data Guard, RMAN, cloning, resource management, and OEM Grid administration
- Maintain and support databases across multiple operating systems, including Linux, RHEL, and Windows
- Support cloud-based infrastructure and databases in AWS, including CloudWatch, CloudTrail, EC2, Oracle, Aurora, and PostgreSQL RDS
- Create and maintain shell scripts to automate recurring database administration, ETL support, and daily monitoring activities
- Assist with database and system patching, software upgrades, performance tuning, and maintenance of COTS products and operating systems
Salary Range: $110,000- $122,000

Required Skills - Active Secret security clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in database administration
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration
- Experience supporting or working alongside ETL processes, data integration, and database-to-database/data pipeline operations
- Experience writing and troubleshooting PL/pgSQL and SQL queries
- Strong understanding of SQL optimization, normalization, indexing, and query tuning
- Experience with PostgreSQL backup and recovery methods
- Working knowledge of Oracle database administration, including Oracle 19c/21c support
- Experience with AWS cloud services and managed database platforms
- Experience with shell scripting for automation and monitoring
Desired Skills - Experience in environments where PostgreSQL is the primary operational database platform
- Experience supporting ETL jobs, data ingestion workflows, and integration between enterprise applications
- Familiarity with Oracle Data Guard, RMAN, AWR, ASH, and ADDM
- Experience with PostgreSQL RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, or hybrid cloud database environments
- Knowledge of database storage management, system interfacing, and enterprise monitoring tools
