Summary

We are seeking a Senior Scrum Master to guide Agile delivery for an enterprise AI platform supporting a U.S. government agency. In this role, you will drive the rhythm and execution of a small, cross-functional team delivering AI-enabled workflows within a real-world federal mission setting. You will collaborate closely with engineers, designers, product leaders, and government stakeholders to ensure steady progress and clear outcomes.

This is a highly engaged, team-focused Scrum Master position within a fast-paced product environment not a heavily process-driven coordination role. You will enable team effectiveness, remove obstacles, and foster continuous improvement across sprints. If you have experience coaching high-performing Agile teams in federal settings and want to contribute to an AI platform delivering at commercial velocity, this role may be a strong fit.

This position requires the ability to obtain a government background investigation; U.S. citizenship is required.

What You ll Do

  • Lead all Scrum ceremonies for the delivery team, including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions.
  • Guide team members engineering, design, product, and QA on Agile principles, emphasizing outcomes over rigid adherence to process.
  • Proactively identify and resolve blockers that could impact sprint commitments, escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Monitor and share key performance metrics such as velocity, burn-down, and predictability with both the team and government stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Work closely with product owners to maintain a well-groomed, prioritized backlog with clearly defined acceptance criteria.
  • Support release planning efforts and ensure delivery aligns with customer expectations and commitments.
  • Protect the team from external disruptions to maintain focus on sprint objectives.
  • Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives and targeted process enhancements.
  • Ensure development activities align with organizational standards for risk management, compliance, and SDLC practices while maintaining delivery speed.
  • Collaborate across the broader engineering organization to manage dependencies involving platform, security, and infrastructure teams.

What We re Looking For

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Certified Scrum Master with at least 7 years of experience leading Agile teams.
  • Demonstrated success in coaching high-performing teams and improving delivery consistency and velocity.
  • Extensive experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies within cross-functional product teams.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with technical teams, product stakeholders, and customers.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub or GitLab.
  • Experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, including the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Flexibility in adapting to changing priorities and managing distributed teams.
  • Ability to obtain a government background investigation; U.S. citizenship required.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Master s degree in a related field.
  • Advanced Agile certifications such as A-CSM, SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM), CSPO, or SAFe POPM.
  • Prior experience supporting federal agencies or government clients.
  • Experience leading Agile delivery for AI, GenAI, or modernization initiatives.
  • Background collaborating closely with product design teams to deliver user-facing applications.
  • Familiarity with navigating federal compliance requirements (e.g., ATO, security reviews) while maintaining delivery momentum.
