We are seeking an experienced SAP ILM & Data Archiving Consultant to lead our data volume management and lifecycle strategies across our SAP landscape. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SAP standard data archiving, Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) retention policies, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR). You will play a critical role in controlling database growth, ensuring legal compliance through automated data retention and destruction, and integrating archived data with enterprise storage solutions and cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Archiving Strategy & Analysis: Lead Data Volume Management (DVM) assessments to identify top database growth drivers and define tailored archiving strategies for SAP ECC or S/4HANA environments.
SAP SARA Configuration: Configure, test, and execute standard SAP data archiving runs using transaction SARA for complex archiving objects across various modules (FI, MM, SD, etc.).
SAP ILM Implementation: Design and implement SAP ILM Retention Management and System Decommissioning. Configure residence rules, retention rules, and ILM policies (transaction IRMPOL).
Legal & Compliance Management: Implement eDiscovery, legal holds, and automated data destruction processes to ensure strict adherence to GDPR and other global data privacy regulations.
Storage Integration: Configure ArchiveLink and the SAP ILM Store to seamlessly route and store archived data into enterprise content management systems (e.g., OpenText Archive Center) and cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure Blob storage).
Customization & Enhancements: Identify requirements for custom archiving objects and work with development teams to implement necessary ABAP enhancements, user exits, or BAdIs.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor archiving jobs, troubleshoot variant or spool errors, and resolve inconsistencies between the SAP database and the archive storage system.
Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documentation, including DVM reports, runbooks, ILM policy mapping, and post-archiving validation procedures.
