The Boeing Company is looking for an Associate or Experienced Software Engineer, Developer to join our Space Mission Systems (SMS) team, focused on Full Stack Java software development located in Chantilly, VA or Seal Beach, CA. This position will focus on Mission Management and Mission Planning Java software, working alongside a cross-functional team to develop solutions to allow stakeholders to advance the mission.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards.
  • Develop, maintain, enhance, and optimize software products and functionalities for systems integrations.
  • Regularly assess, update, and maintain software libraries and COTS products to ensure compatibility, security, and performance within the application ecosystem.
  • Participate in the agile software development lifecycle including planning, reviews, and supporting customer meetings.
  • Debug and resolve issues identified to ensure reliability and efficiency of software products.
  • Perform software development, participate in code reviews, and adhere to guidance on software standards and design principles.
  • Develop, establish, monitor, and improve software processes, tools, and key performance metrics that align with organization goals and industry benchmarks.
  • Execute and document software research and development projects.
  • Advise on software domains, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations.

This position is contingent upon program contract follow-on award and customer acceptance of TS/SCI clearance. Employment begins only upon satisfaction of both criteria.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • 3+ years' experience in foundational Computer Science knowledge and object-oriented design and software patterns
  • 3+ years' experience in Java/C++/Python object-oriented programming on full stack software projects/programs
  • This position requires an Active Top-Secret U.S. Security Clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility and successful completion of CI Polygraph post start.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Experience with one or more of the following: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JS frameworks (REACT, Open Layers, etc.), Spring Framework, Hibernate, RDBMS, noSQL, REST/Open API
  • Experience with Agile or SAFe practices, including daily standup, User Stories, Sprints, and Release Planning
  • Familiarity with practices such as test-driven development (TDD), agile software development, DevSecOps, and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) management
  • Experience using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI to automate build, test, and deployment processes
  • Demonstrated experience with middleware technologies, particularly Java Message Service (JMS) and WebLogic, including the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of messaging solutions
  • Experience using dependency management and automation services (e.g. Ivy, Maven, Gradle, Git, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Experience with RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) data systems
  • Experience in writing and executing test cases, including unit, integration, and system testing, to ensure software functionality and performance meet specifications
  • Experience with systems engineering or software development on space-based or ground-based systems

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range / Associate: $106,250 - $143,750

Summary pay range / Experienced: $135,150 - $182,850

Potential signing bonus for eligible/qualified external candidates.
