Role Overview
Meeru AI is seeking a Senior Staff Backend Engineer to lead the design and development of our core backend services powering an AI-native enterprise finance platform. You will build scalable, configuration-driven services that process large volumes of financial and operational data with a strong focus on correctness, auditability, and performance. This is a hands-on technical leadership role partnering with Product, AI, and Data Engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
· Design and develop scalable backend services for data-intensive computation.
· Build reusable, configuration-driven service architectures and processing frameworks.
· Ensure data correctness, traceability, auditability, and reproducible results.
· Optimize SQL, data processing pipelines, and backend performance.
· Develop secure, multi-tenant cloud-native services for enterprise deployments.
· Lead architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and establish backend engineering best practices.
· Collaborate with AI, Data, and Product teams to deliver enterprise-grade solutions.
Required Skills
· 8+ years of backend software engineering experience with Staff-level technical leadership.
· Strong expertise in Python (Go or Java experience is a plus).
· Advanced SQL, data modeling, and large-scale data processing.
· Experience building distributed, configuration-driven backend systems.
· Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, Snowflake, REST APIs, and cloud-native architectures.
· Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD.
· Deep understanding of system design, scalability, performance optimization, and reliability.
· Excellent problem-solving, architecture, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
· Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in Finance, Accounting, ERP, Analytics, or regulated enterprise environments.
· Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms and customer-hosted deployments.
· Exposure to AI/ML, LLM applications, or data engineering workflows.
· Experience building highly auditable and compliant enterprise systems.
