Developer COBOL

Hansen Talent Group is seeking an experienced COBOL Developer to support a large enterprise mainframe environment handling high-volume transactional data and mission-critical applications.

This role is ideal for a mainframe developer with strong COBOL experience who is comfortable working with legacy systems, optimizing batch processes, and ensuring secure, compliant data processing in a regulated environment.

Location: Remote EST/CST

What You''ll Do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL applications supporting core business and transactional systems
• Write and manage JCL jobs to support batch processing and scheduled workloads
• Work with DB2 and VSAM databases to ensure accurate and efficient data processing
• Optimize existing mainframe code and workflows to improve performance and support business changes
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform debugging, and conduct root cause analysis
• Ensure applications meet HIPAA and enterprise security and compliance standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe systems with modern platforms
• Create and maintain technical documentation, workflows, and system procedures

What You''ll Need

• Strong COBOL development experience on z/OS
• Hands-on experience with JCL job control language
• Experience working with DB2 and VSAM databases
• Ability to troubleshoot and support high-volume batch processing systems
• Strong understanding of mainframe environments and enterprise data flows
• Experience working in regulated environments (HIPAA or similar preferred)
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
