Job Description
We are currently seeking a contract Data Engineer to be a key resource on a technical services team for our client, the Teacher Retirement Systems (TRS).
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain basic data models to ensure structured data storage and accessibility.
- Perform administrative tasks and assist in basic system administration duties, contributing to the overall management and upkeep of data systems.
- Manage data permission, ensuring proper access control and data security.
- Conduct data analysis and assist in larger data analysis projects, providing insights and support to business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and contribute to defining project scopes and objectives.
- Capable of learning and supporting new and existing data-driven applications, contributing to the creation of data solutions that support business needs.
- Generate reports using reporting tools and provide support in more advanced reporting tasks as required.
- Engage in scrum activities and actively participate in Agile methodologies.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment, efficiently manage time, and fulfill deadlines.
- Excellent technical troubleshooting and code debugging abilities.
- Work with minimal supervision and proactively addresses actions and issues.
- Excellent verbal, written, and social skills to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
Minimum (Required):
- Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in computer science, information technology, data analytics, or related discipline
- 2-3 years design and implement ETL processes and perform basic data lake management.
- SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services, Azure Synapse, Spark, Microsoft Fabric
- Develop and manage cloud and on-prem data platforms.
- Experience working with scripts under source control (Git/etc.) and use CI/CD pipelines.
- Investment data experience required to support major investment application implementation.
