We are seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to work directly with customers and internal engineering teams to design, prototype, integrate, and deploy AI-powered solutions in real-world environments.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on software engineer who can operate effectively in ambiguous customer environments, understand business and technical requirements, build working prototypes quickly, and productionize solutions. This role requires strong software engineering fundamentals combined with practical experience applying Generative AI, LLMs, APIs, and modern application development.
The FDE will act as a technical bridge between customers and product/engineering teams, helping customers realize value from AI technology while feeding real-world product requirements and feedback back into the core engineering organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers to understand complex technical and business requirements.
- Design, prototype, and deploy custom AI-powered applications and integrations.
- Build proof-of-concepts and rapidly iterate based on customer feedback.
- Develop production-ready software and integrations using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Integrate AI/LLM capabilities into customer applications, workflows, and enterprise systems.
- Work with APIs, SDKs, databases, cloud platforms, and third-party systems to deliver customer solutions.
- Troubleshoot technical issues across application, integration, and deployment environments.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, solutions teams, and customer stakeholders.
- Translate ambiguous customer requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Take prototypes from initial concept through production deployment.
- Identify recurring customer requirements and communicate product opportunities to the core engineering/product organization.
- Participate in customer meetings, technical workshops, demonstrations, and solution discussions.
- Provide technical guidance and documentation for deployed solutions.
- Travel to customer locations when required.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering or application development experience.
- Strong programming experience with one or more of:
- Python
- TypeScript
- JavaScript / Node.js
- Go
- Java
- Experience building and deploying production software applications.
- Experience working with APIs, SDKs, integrations, and web services.
- Practical experience with Generative AI, LLMs, AI applications, or AI-enabled workflows.
- Ability to rapidly prototype and iterate on technical solutions.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work directly with customers and technical stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Ability to understand customer problems and translate them into technical solutions.
- Anthropic certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Customer Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Full Stack Engineer.
- Experience deploying LLM-powered applications.
- Experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, agents, or AI application development.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, or modern DevOps practices..
