Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced IBM i / AS400 Consultant to join our enterprise applications team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience developing, enhancing, and supporting business-critical applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform. This role requires expertise in RPGLE, CL, DB2 for i, Embedded SQL, and modern IBM i development practices, with experience integrating legacy applications with modern enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform.
Develop and support applications using RPG IV, RPGLE (Free Format), ILE RPG, and CL/CLLE.
Create and optimize DB2 for i database objects, SQL queries, stored procedures, and embedded SQL programs.
Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
Develop batch jobs, interactive programs, service programs, procedures, and reusable modules.
Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
Optimize application performance through efficient coding and database tuning.
Develop and consume REST APIs and integrate IBM i applications with external systems.
Participate in modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy fixed-format RPG to Free Format RPG.
Collaborate with business users, architects, QA teams, and cross-functional stakeholders throughout the SDLC.
Maintain technical documentation and support deployment activities.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of hands-on IBM i (AS400) development experience.

Strong expertise in:
IBM i (AS400)
RPG IV / RPGLE (Free Format preferred)
ILE RPG
CL / CLLE
DB2 for i
Embedded SQL

Experience developing:
Interactive applications
Batch processing programs
Service Programs
Procedures & Modules
Data Queues
Message Queues
Job Queues

Strong SQL development and database performance tuning skills.
Experience debugging and supporting production applications.
Familiarity with source management and development tools such as RDi, SEU/PDM, and Git.
