Terms of Employment

• W2 Contract, Six Months (Likely Extennsion)
• This position is 100% onsite in Warrenville. There will be once-per-month travel to Joliet or Morris, IL (whichever is preferred) for nuclear badging purposes.
• The schedule is Monday Friday during standard business hours.

Overview & Responsibilities

• Work with a leading clean energy provider in their Midwest Cyber Security division. This is a critical, hands-on role supporting a Principal Engineer in overhauling and building out a new, air-gapped cyber security lab. You will be responsible for the physical and logical setup of next-generation monitoring systems, acting as the primary "doer" to ensure the lab environment is robust and well-documented.

You will

• Physically rack and cable HP servers and Cisco networking equipment.
• Configure server hardware, including hardware-level RAID settings.
• Deploy and configure Windows Server 2019 and virtual machines using VMware ESXi or Hyper-V.
• Perform initial network configuration, including VLANs, routing, and IP addressing.
• Assist in overhauling the SIEM (Splunk) environment by creating basic searches and optimizing dashboards.
• Use GUIs to manage next-gen firewalls (Cisco FTD) and modify access control lists (ACLs).
• Provide detailed documentation of technical solutions in "layman s terms" for site analysts.

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in IT Desktop Support, Server Support, or Infrastructure.
• Proven experience with physical hardware deployment (racking, cabling, RAID configuration).
• Hands-on experience installing and configuring Windows Server operating systems.
• Experience creating and restoring VMs within a VMware environment.
• Ability to pass a nuclear-grade background check, psychological evaluation, and a zero-tolerance drug test (including marijuana).
• Must be willing to travel to a nuclear site (Joliet or Morris area) once a month for badging purposes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Splunk (running searches or viewing dashboards).
• Experience with Cisco branded switches and Next-Gen Firewalls (FTD).
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA or CCIE.
• Experience working with HP server hardware.
