Description: We're looking for a Thermal Engineering Aide who enjoys hands-on lab work, problem-solving and supporting engineers in developing reliable power-conversion products. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a technical environment, is comfortable with electrical and mechanical testing, and wants to contribute directly to product performance and quality. You'll work with power supplies, thermal measurement systems, data-acquisition tools and mechanical fixtures while helping ensure our designs meet real-world demands.
Job Description
- Support engineers in evaluating DC-DC and AC-DC power supplies, performing qualification testing with a focus on thermal analysis and temperature-rise characterization.
- Participate in mechanical testing to assess product behavior across varied mechanical environments.
- Apply working knowledge of electrical circuits and power conversion to define and implement test setups for electrical and thermal measurements.
- Set up mechanical, electrical and thermal configurations required for testing in the thermal laboratory.
- Design, modify or build fixtures and devices to improve or customize thermal-lab test setups.
- Use corporate databases, data-acquisition systems and LabVIEW-based equipment to support testing and data collection.
- Compile and summarize test findings in Excel and PowerPoint for internal engineering review.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve product-related issues.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while demonstrating initiative, adaptability and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment.
Education / Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Electronics or Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of AC and DC circuits and electrical power.
- Seven or more years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Experience using electronic lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, power supplies, power analyzers, electronic loads and data-acquisition units.
- Ability to track and maintain calibration of thermal-lab equipment.
- Ability to set up liquid-cooling plumbing including chillers, pressure gauges and cold plates.
- Understanding of heat-transfer principles and thermal resistance.
- Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings and test specifications.
- Strong soldering skills and thermocouple preparation capability.
- Basic machining skills including use of a drill press and milling machine for copper or aluminum stock.
- Experience with FLIR thermal cameras and associated software.
