Position OverviewThe Critical Environment Technician Level 1 (CE Tech I) supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical electrical systems within a high-availability environment. This role performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and assists with troubleshooting while strictly adhering to safety, operational, and security standards.
Key Responsibilities- Complete all tasks outlined in the CE Tech Level 1 role description
- Perform daily operational rounds and log readings of electrical equipment, including but not limited to:
- Temperatures
- Voltages
- Currents
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all planned and unplanned critical environment work
- Energize cabinets in a colocation (Colo) environment
- Perform Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) preventive maintenance, including:
- Quarterly maintenance
- Annual maintenance
- Conduct system control panel preventive maintenance
- Perform battery preventive maintenance
- Assist with troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and calibration of instrumentation and sensors
- Ensure full compliance with safety procedures, physical security policies, and site standards at all times
Required Qualifications- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 3+ years of work or applied learning experience in a technical field, such as:
- Electrical
- Controls
- Automotive
- Data centers
- Experience working with electrical systems in high-availability environments, including:
- Data centers
- Critical infrastructure
- Manufacturing
- Hospitals
- Pharmaceutical facilities
- Oil & gas refineries
- OSHA or OSHA-approved NFPA 70E Certification (required)
- Basic understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include:
- 12-hour shifts
- Rotating shifts
- 3-, 4-, or 5-day work weeks
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
